ABOUT DAVID DOBSON
David’s first camera at age 8 instantly opened the doors of adventure and exploration to the streets of Calcutta, India, a village of 18 million people, where his parents and family were working as missionaries. Coming from a missions family heritage that spans over 65 years of international service in Kenya, India, Egypt, and Sri Lanka, David quickly learned the joys of being a part of making a positive difference in the lives of those most in need amongst seemingly impossible conditions. David’s teenage weekends were spent endlessly walking and exploring the ancient medina and bazaars of Cairo, Egypt with his cameras. It was here amongst the rich cultural tapestry of the Middle East that David perfected his unique ability to connect and communicate within diverse cultures, granting him access to experiences and images not readily shared with foreigners and cameras.
David has committed over 34 years of his professional career photographing travel, fashion, music, and missions projects around the world, returning to Calcutta to shoot a world class collection of intimate portraits of Mother Teresa, and published award winning photojournalism assignments in over 154 countries. In addition to his humanitarian work around the world, David has also shot numerous assignments in the world of fashion and music, always blending and infusing the creative influences of his travels and colorful life experiences with the subjects he is photographing. Now settled and living in Nashville, Tennessee, David offers his unique and creative worldview to your project.
